Eight Coast FA teams returned home from Columbia S.C this weekend with two championships, six runner ups and a lot of extra mud in their cars. The weather front that moved through Columbia created very challenging pitches for Saturday’s matches before the sun came through Sunday. ” I thought our teams competed very well in the adverse conditions against quality competition. The SCUFC staff did a good job to get all of the matches played so not to disappoint the kids. Their will be some photos from this event that will be around for a long time ” said Coast DOC Ross Morgan.
Coach Justin Wolf”s Coast 06 Red brought back the championship trophy in the U8 boys top division by reeling off four consecutive wins including a hard fought 3-2 victory in the finals versus Lexington. ” No doubt that these parents and kids will always remember this championship for years to come. We definitely created some great memories this weekend ” said Coach Wolf.
The Coast 04 Red coached by Luis Brenes kept up their winning ways by claiming the U11 boys title against teams one year older. The 04 Red posted three wins and one tie over the weekend. ” We are pushing this group very hard by playing all of their matches against older teams. They are responding very well and progressing nicely” added Coach Brenes.
Six other Coast teams placed second after coming up just short in the finals. The Coast 00g Crush Too, 04g Red, 01 Red, 03 Black, 04 Black and 06 Black all had great showings at the St Patty Cup.
