Sixteen Coast teams entered the Adidas Clash tournament in Greensboro, North Carolina over the weekend and six returned home with hardware from the event. Four championships and two finalist awards were claimed by Myrtle Beach-based Coast FA teams. Early morning frost delays gave way to sunny but brisk conditions for a terrific tournament setting as the fall tournament season began to wind down.
Six different Coast coaches led their teams to the championship matches. Championships were claimed by Coach R.J. Bass and his Coast 04g Red, Coast 99g Crush led by Coach Mark Sanchez, Coach Justin Blomdahl’s Coast 08 Red South and Coach Ben Strong with his Coast 07 Red squad.
Finalist awards were claimed by Coach Mario Benjamin’s Coast 05 Red and Coast 02 Black with Coach Vinnie De La Cueva at the helm.
“Greensboro always provides top level competition and terrific pitches for their Adidas Clash tournament. Having six of our squads reach the championship match in this event is an outstanding result and a nice way to head into the Christmas break for our U14 and younger sides. The month of December will provide a much needed break for the players and parents,” said Coast DOC Ross Morgan.
