Three Coast FA teams returned home with hardware from the St. Patrick’s Day Cup in Columbia, South Carolina over the weekend. Terrific weather and a competitive field of teams were a welcome sight for everyone in attendance after a season effected by COVID interruptions. Hats off to the SCUFC staff for hosting a great event .
Coach Steef De Lange’s Coast 08 Red (click here for image) team posted a perfect 4-0-0 record to claim the U13 champion medals. The boys enjoyed a positive eleven goal scoring margin during victories over CESA Sect Black 1-0, SCUFC Classic 5-1, JIYSC Black 5-2 and Furman Black 5-2 in the final. “ My team played amazing soccer this weekend. We switched positions, made overlaps and made it very difficult for every opponent to play us. I feel these results will help us prepare for the remainder of our PMSL season. I am extremely proud of them “ said Coach De Lange. |

Coach Mary Vollink’s Coast 10g Red (click here for image) visited the trophy podium for the first time this year to claim finalist honors in the U11 division. The girls posted a 2-2-0 record for the tournament with both losses coming at the hands of CESA 10 Black including a 1-3 result in the final. “ It was an outstanding weekend by these girls. We took a hard loss in the final but I could not be more proud of them. The energy and effort that they have put forth this season is impressive. I am looking forward to the CPL matches left on our schedule and the Coast tournament next month “ said Coach Vollink. |

Despite conceding only six goals in four matches the Coast 11 Red (click here for image) boys came up just short of a championship medal in the U10 division versus a quality CESA Red side. Coach Dan Martin said “ the boys fought hard all weekend demonstrating exactly what we have been working on since the start of the season. They showed great sportsmanship throughout the tournament as well but unfortunately could not post the final victory needed to finish as champions. They fully deserve the finalist medal given for their efforts this weekend.” |
